Ten Years On..........

It had been ten years since the last time I had gone out to meet a celeb and a lot of things had changed in my life. I had got married and given birth to four beautiful children, so I never had the time to go out by myself to meet anyone! But that all changed last year in August!

I stumbled across an amazing deal called Kids Week. For those who have not heard of it, the deal is for every full price paying adult, one child goes free. It provides a chance for children who may not normally have the chance to be able to see a West End Show of their choice (providing the show is part of the deal). Obviously, I was not going pass up the chance to finally to take my daughter to a musical. So I booked us tickets to see The Wizard of Oz and Wicked. But I made a decision that after the show we would go to the backstage door to meet the cast!

The first show we went to was Wicked! I had seen it before and loved it and Rachael had been desperate to see since she saw The Wizard of Oz movie! We had fantastic seats at the front of the dress circle. The show was amazing (as always) and Rachael really enjoyed the show! Immediately after, we quickly went to the stage door and placed ourselves behind the barrier, directly in front of the door itself. Being Rachael's first time waiting to meet someone, she got bored incredibly quickly, but that was completely understandable! Rachael had also worn her Belle dress because she wanted to look like Glinda and she wanted to be noticed by the cast! Well it worked, as most of the cast we met commented on how pretty she looked in it!
First to come was Ben Stott, who played Boq. He was more than happy to have a photo with Rachael. He even tweeted me back about cute it was! Next out was Mark Evans, who played Fiyero. Mark is very tall so really had to bend over low to have his photo with Rachael.

Finally, the person who Rachael really wanted to meet came out, Louise Dearman, who played the character, Glinda. She loved that Rachael had dressed to be like Glinda and commented on how pretty her dress was! This made Rachael very happy. Last to come out was Nikki Davis Jones, who played Elphaba that night in place of Rachel Tucker. We commented to her how amazing she was, to which she thanked us! With that photo and autograph gotten, I took one happy, yet tired little girl home!

Next up was The Wizard of Oz. We were sat much further back this time round but Rachael was just happy to be there. The show was fantastic, especially the lighting effects! Like Wicked, immediately after the show, we shot round to the stage door. Sadly we did not meet many people, as many cast members snuck by us and it didn't help it was raining. But we did get to meet Emma Housely, who had played Dorothy during the performance. This pleased Rachael very much!

All in all, it was very great start to Rachael's love of musical and introducing to my world of meeting celebs!
